Conor Benn Provides Update On Ryan Garcia World Title Shot Talks

Conor Benn continues to chase a fight with Ryan Garcia this year.

Benn is now looking to contest what would be his maiden world title after two of the biggest wins in his career. Early in 2026, he took on former world champion Regis Prograis at 160lbs and after a slow start, managed to get the job done on points, with ageing Prograis retiring after the contest.

Before that, he settled his long-term rivalry and family feud with Chris Eubank Jr by beating him via unanimous decision over 12 rounds back in November. Six months before, it was he who was beaten over 12 rounds in their first contest when Eubank’s size and experience told across the fight.

Speaking at an event recently, Benn called out the WBC welterweight champion once more as he looks to secure his first title as mandatory challenger.

“I haven’t spoken to him. He’s gone missing. So all I need him to do is sign the contract so we can get the fight locked in and give everyone here one hell of a fight, and a potential other fight of the year.”

Despite much chatter around this contest, including Garcia himself saying it would take place in Las Vegas in September, the American’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya, the boss of Golden Boy Promotions, says he has been involved in no talks and has even sent a legal letter to Zuffa Boxing, Benn’s promoter, to halt talks that don’t involve him.

If the mandatory defence doesn’t come off, another option for Benn could be WBA regular title holder and fellow Brit, Jack Catterall.
