The biggest fight of Conor Benn‘s career is fast approaching against Ryan Garcia, and Shannon Briggs is the latest to make his prediction.
So far, Benn has had 26 fights on his way to his maiden world title. After plenty of straightforward early wins, he had his first struggles in his against Cedrick Peynaud and was considered lucky to have got the decision.
After that, he put together an impressive run of victories, including three knockouts against Samuel Vargas, Chris Algieri and Chris Van Heerden before then testing positive for a banned substance in 2022.
He had just two low-key fights out in the States while attempting to clear his name with the British Boxing Board of Control and was finally allowed to fight again on UK shores in 2025.
First came his grudge match with generational rival Chris Eubank Jr, which he lost on a wide decision, then managed to reverse the result six months later.
In September, he will fight Garcia for the WBC welterweight world title down at 147lbs, which will be his first fight at that weight since 2022.
Speaking to FigthHype, Briggs didn’t hesitate to give his prediction and sided with the Brit.
“I’m going with Conor for the knockout. I’m going with Conor. Six rounds, let’s go champ.”
Garcia will provide the stiffest challenge of Benn’s career yet. He is a top operator with great hand speed and a whipping left hook, and has shared the ring with the likes of Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney before now.
The fight takes place on September 12th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with plenty of people leaning towards Garcia for the win.
