Canelo Alvarez will be an interested spectator when Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol meet on Saturday.
The two light heavyweight stars do battle in a rematch of their epic clash from October, where Beterbiev defeated Bivol by majority decision to add the WBA belt to his WBC, WBO and IBF titles and become undisputed light heavyweight champion.
Four months on they are set to do it all again, on a packed card that also features Joseph Parker taking on late replacement Martin Bakole, Shakur Stevenson defending his WBC lightweight title against Josh Padley, and Vergil Ortiz taking on Israil Madrimov.
Canelo is the reigning unified super-middleweight world champion, but also held world honours at 175lbs when he stopped Sergey Kovalev to win the WBO light heavyweight title in 2019.
He made another attempt to win a world title at light heavyweight when he challenged Bivol for his WBA strap in 2022, but Bivol defeated the Mexican superstar by unanimous decision, becoming just the second man after Floyd Mayweather to defeat Canelo.
With less than 24 hours to go until fight night, Canelo has now made his final prediction for the bout, as DAZN Boxing revealed who he was siding with.
“Bivol.”
If Alvarez’s prediction is accurate, it could then see a trilogy bout between Beterbiev and Bivol take place, after Saudi chief Turki Al-Alshikh announced that the pair will meet again for a third time if Bivol wins the rematch.
While Canelo and Bivol may have shared the ring before, Beterbiev recently announced why he has no intention of fighting Alvarez any time soon.
