British heavyweights Daniel Dubois and Moses Itauma could be on course for an all-British world title unification in early 2027.
Dubois is already a two-time world champion, having been elevated to IBF champion just ahead of his June 2024 fight with Filip Hrgovic.
After defending the belt, he then knocked out Anthony Joshua later that year but was dethroned in 2025 when he fought and lost to Oleksandr Usyk for a second time.
Last time out, however, despite being down in the early rounds, he beat WBO champion Fabio Wardley by knockout to pick up his second title.
He will have to defend it in a rematch which is expected to take place later this year, and if he comes through that, he could well have Itauma in his sights.
Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, Dubois’s trainer Don Charles was asked about a potential clash between his man and Itauma.
“It all starts with Moses winning his next fight against Hrgovic. Provided we’re successful in coming through our rematch with Fabio, it’s inevitable that they will meet.
“They both happened to sign to Frank Warren, so it’s inevitable. Like I said, we can only take care of our side, keep focused, remain on beat, and we have to win our next fight.”
21-year-old Itauma takes a huge step up when he faces Hrgovic this weekend. He has won all 14 of his fights so far, with 12 victories coming by way of knockout, and the vast majority of them within the first two rounds.
His best result so far have been an early stoppage of Dillian Whyte and last time out he was the first man to stop American Jermaine Franklin, who had previously shared the ring with Anthony Joshua and Whyte.
One hurdle before Itauma potentially fighting Dubois is that he would have to fight IBF mandatory Frank Sánchez before anyone else, should he beat Hrgovic, as the Cuban was paid to step aside to allow him to fight for the title first.
