Daniel Dubois has been looking ahead to this weekend’s heavyweight showdown between Moses Itauma and his former opponent Filip Hrgovic.
‘DDD’ fought Hrgovic for the IBF world title in June 2024 and came out victorious. It was Hrgovic’s first loss, although many believe he was lucky to get a points win over Zhilei Zhang in 2022.
Since then, the Croatian and former Olympic bronze medallist has beaten both Joe Joe and David Adeleye on points, and his last outing in May was a third-round TKO over Dave Allen.
Itauma meanwhile is stepping up to a new level when he faces Hrgovic. He has impressed so far with 14 wins from 14 fights, including 12 knockouts, all of them inside the first six rounds.
There have been victories over solid contenders like Dillian Whyte and Jermaine Franklin amongst them, but Hrgovic will provide his toughest test yet.
Speaking to Queensberry Promotions, Dubois explained how much he is looking forward to the contest.
“I’ve shared the ring with Hrgovic. Tough, animal-like guy, experienced. It’s going to be a fight I’m definitely watching. And I think the whole division, the whole world’s going to be watching. Great dust up. Let’s see what Moses can do.”
The fight, which takes place at London’s O2 Arena this Saturday, was recently upgraded to an IBF world title fight. That means Itauma will be attempting to become the second-youngest-ever world champion. He is only 21, and the current record is held by Mike Tyson, who was just 20 when he beat Trevor Berbick in 1986.
