As Floyd Mayweather prepares to face Manny Pacquiao for the second time, a former rival of the American has said there is a chance he loses his famous undefeated record.
It was announced back in February that the legendary duo would be reigniting their rivalry in a sanctioned professional bout at The Sphere in Las Vegas on Saturday September 19.
Their first encounter took place back in May of 2015 and it was Mayweather who prevailed on the night, defeating Pacquiao via unanimous decision to unify the WBC, WBA and WBO world welterweight titles at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
One man who faced Mayweather during the American great’s prime years is two-weight world champion Zab Judah, who locked horns with him just over two decades ago and can boast hurting the defensive master in the fight.
Speaking to MillCity Boxing, Judah admitted that he is giving Pacquiao ‘an edge’ in his rematch with Mayweather, as he claims the Filipino great has more speed and power than the former pound-for-pound superstar.
“I mean yeah you’re gonna give Manny an edge, because he has movement, he has fluidness and he has those good combinations. He is a combination puncher with speed and power, so he is always going to do good – and he is elusive. The only thing with Manny Pacquiao – his biggest problem is his defence, sometimes he slacks on the defence and gets caught standing straight there and allows his opponent to connect. Other than that, the guy is phenomenal.”
‘PacMan’ made a sensational return to the ring last July when he fought to a majority draw against former WBC world welterweight champion Mario Barrios, although it has been argued that Pacquiao had done more than enough to be declared the winner.
