Carl Frampton Delivers Verdict On Anthony Joshua Returning To Ben Davison For Tyson Fury Fight

Carl Frampton has given his thoughts on the controversy around Tyson Fury‘s former coach Ben Davison working with Anthony Joshua ahead of their mega fight in December.

Davison was the man who helped get Fury back to the ring after a long time out while he battled with mental health and addiction issues following his maiden world title win over Wladimir Klitschko.

He got him in shape, guided him through two comeback wins, then helped him draw with the fearsome WBC ruler and big-punching American Deontay Wilder.

Fury left Davison after that, and Joshua later hooked up with the British trainer for his victories over Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.

The pair separated after Joshua was knocked out by Daniel Dubois in 2024 but have recently hooked up once more after Joshua spent some time working with Oleksandr Usyk and his team.

Speaking to The Fight Wire, Frampton explained why he thinks this set-up could give Joshua a little mental edge going into the fight.

“It’s a strange one. A few people have been calling Ben out recently on some of the recent performances, which I think is a little unfair. I think Ben is a really good coach. Mentally, he’s trained Tyson Fury, and ‘AJ’ knows him as well.

“Fury will put a brave face on and act like it’s not affecting him, but Ben knows him as well as other coaches he’s trained with and maybe there’s something in the back of his head annoying him a little bit about that, so I see it as being quite a smart move.”

Fury will again have Sugar Hill in his corner, and the WBA belt will be on the line when the two men finally meet at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
