Tyson Fury Slams Judges For Scoring In British Title Fight: “You Robbed Him”

Tyson Fury has weighed in with his views on a controversial scorecard from the weekend.

Many boxers take the view that results should not be left to the scorecards and that the best way to get a fight won is by knockout.

Fury himself took that approach in two of his fights with Deontay Wilder. After the first was scored a rather controversial draw, he approached the next two much more on the front foot and had his opponent down several times to earn knockout wins.

He may well take the same approach when he fights his long-time British rival Anthony Joshua on December 11 in Cardiff, though Joshua is also known for knocking out several opponents.

Now deep in camp for that fight, Fury has been watching some of the weekend’s boxing action, including Michael Gomez Jnr, who was held to a draw in his British and Commonwealth lightweight title fight with Louie O’Doherty at London’s O2 Arena.

In a clip shared on social media, Fury expresses his surprise at how the fight was scored.

“He only lost two rounds and he won 10 and they’ve give him a draw. That is a bad robbery that. F**king hell. Pull your finger out. How in the world did you give it a draw? You robbed a lad of his title. Boxing’s f**ked up man. You can’t leave it to the judges.”

Gomez was on top from early on in the fight and pushed O’Doherty back by landing his own shots at will. For many viewers, the contest only seemed to be going one way, but the judges instead conspired to rule a majority-decision draw with scorecards of 115-114 to Gomez and 114-114 twice.
