Joe Joyce has faced plenty of calls to hang up his gloves and has now given an update on his future in boxing.
Joyce is now 40 years of age and has lost five of his last six fights. Most recently, he headed to Russia in July to take on Artem Suslenkov and was stopped in the 11th round.
Previously, he lost on points to Filip Hrgovic back in April 2025, and in July 2024 he was on the wrong side of another unanimous decision when he fought fellow veteran Derek Chisora.
Before that, he beat the unheralded Kash Ali following back-to-back KO losses to Zhilei Zhang, with his best results to date being a KO of Joseph Parker in 2022 and a stoppage win over Daniel Dubois in 2020.
Joyce is not hard to hit, and is a relatively slow fighter who often takes a lot of punishment in order to dish out his own, which is why many would prefer to see him now walk away from the sport.
However, speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, he insists he is not done yet.
“I would be open to having a conversation with everyone, see what’s out there, what’s about. I’m excited to get back in the ring. I had quite a tough test in Moscow. It was difficult to get a fight here in the UK, so I had to go there on rival turf. I’m excited to get back in the ring and fight someone exciting.”
The current world titles are held by Daniel Dubois, Murat Gassiev and Oleksandr Usyk, with Moses Itauma fighting Filip Hrgovic for the vacant IBF belt this weekend.
Joyce is without a promoter and is a long way off that level, so it’s hard to see where he would go if he were to return to the ring this year.
