Former Mayweather Opponent Marcos Maidana Delivers Verdict On Pacquiao Rematch

Marcos Maidana has had his say on the controversial rematch between former rival Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

Two-weight world champion Maidana is more experienced than most in sharing the ring with Mayweather, having crossed paths with the former pound-for-pound star on two occasions during his professional career.

The Argentinian great came very close to handing Mayweather his first defeat when they fought back in May of 2014 but ultimately fell short after ‘Money’ was declared the winner via majority decision.

Mayweather defeated Maidana for the second time just six months later, this time by unanimous decision in what would prove to be the final bout of the Argentinian’s career.

As Mayweather prepares to lock horns with Pacquiao for the second time later this year, Maidana has had his say on what he believes the outcome will be when the legendary duo cross paths in their rematch.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Maidana admitted that whilst he believes father time would have crept up on both Mayweather and Pacquiao, he says that the fight outcome is going to be ‘the same’ as their first bout back in May of 2015.

“I feel it’s gonna be the same, I feel it’s gonna be a little bit slower but the way they fight is gonna be the same. It’s no change.”

Mayweather got the better of ‘PacMan’ in their monumental first clash at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, defeating the Filipino great by unanimous decision to unify the WBC, WBA and WBO world welterweight titles.

The rematch between the former pound-for-pound duo is slated to take place at an unconfirmed venue on September 26, although reports have suggested that the MGM Grand in Las Vegas will play host once again.
