Moses Itauma’s quest to become the youngest British world heavyweight champion of all time has been handed a major boost.
The unbeaten 21-year-old from Kent has had a perfect start to his professional boxing career, winning all 14 of his bouts whilst producing 12 stoppages along the way.
Itauma was last in action back in March when he became the first fighter to stop Jermaine Franklin, achieving a feat that both Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua failed to do in their clashes with the tough American.
As he prepares for the toughest test of his career against Croatia’s Filip Hrgovic later this month, Itauma has been given the opportunity to write his name into the boxing history books as he bids to capture world honours for the first time.
In a social media post by BBC Sport, Itauma’s showdown with Hrgovic will now be for the vacant IBF world heavyweight title after former champion Oleksandr Usyk opted to vacate the belt back in June.

Itauma and Hrgovic are set to square off for the vacant IBF crown on Saturday 29 August at the O2 Arena in London, Itauma’s first headline appearance in the nation’s capital.
The hard-hitting Hrgovic has suffered just one defeat during his own professional career and will have his sights set on derailing Itauma’s rapid rise to the pinnacle of the heavyweight division later this month.
