Fabio Wardley takes on Daniel Dubois in May and now Peter Fury has given his view on how the fight might go.
Wardley has got two impressive wins under his belt in his last two bouts. In both contests, he looked to be falling behind on the cards but showed he carries plenty of power late into fights by landing knockout blows when he needed them most, first against Justis Huni, who has since beaten Frazer Clarke, and then against Joseph Parker, a former world champion who was in a good run of his own.
Dubois, meanwhile, last fought last summer when he was knocked out for the second time by two-time undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, though before that he defended his IBF belt with a KO of his own against former unified star Anthony Joshua.
Speaking to Seconds Out, top trainer Fury sided with the man currently on a good run.
“I’ve got to edge towards Wardley on his form, and how he is, so yeah, but listen, Dubois is a big puncher. He’s a big puncher and if he comes with the right mentality, he can be a problem for anyone in the world.
“But we have seen numbers of times unless he comes ticking on all cylinders, he comes short, so I’d have to favour Wardley but not by a big margin clause like I’ve said he’s a good fighter himself, Dubois, if, if he turns up properly.”
Whoever comes out on top could have many more big nights against the likes of Tyson Fury, Moses Itauma or Usyk, though he previously vacated the WBO strap rather than defend it against Wardley, while Parker has also called for a rematch with Wardley.
