Kristian Prenga has a huge opportunity to shock the world when he fights Anthony Joshua.

Prenga knows he is regarded as a stepping stone in this fight. Joshua is using him as a tune-up after only fighting once in the last two years.

That came back in December when he beat the overmatched Jake Paul by KO, which was more than a year after he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois while challenging for the IBF world title in September 2024.

In the meantime, Joshua has also been involved in a car accident in December in which he lost his two best friends, so he is looking to put all that behind him when he fights the 35-year-old Prenga on July 25th.

Speaking to DAZN Boxing, Prenga was asked if ‘AJ’ is still one of the best in the division.

“I don’t think he’s the best heavyweight in the world, but he’s a great fighter. He’s a great fighter, but I think he has a lot of flaws.”

The Albanian was then asked how he felt about being chosen as an opponent who can be beaten.

“I don’t think it’s offended me, but I’m happy because they underestimated me. I think it’s a bad idea that he made plans to fight Tyson Fury. He made plans, and I think I’m going to break his plans.”

Should Joshua come through, the plan is that he will have the long-awaited showdown with Tyson Fury later in the year, though it has not yet been decided if that will be in the UK or the United States.
