Two-time world champion Regis Prograis has predicted the outcome of a potential clash between former rival Conor Benn and Ryan Garcia.
Rumours of a showdown between Benn and Garcia have been circulating over the last few months, after Benn made his long-awaited return to the ring on April 11 when he defeated Prograis by unanimous decision at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.
As for Garcia, the 27-year-old from California returned to action in February as he defeated Mario Barrios to capture the WBC world welterweight title with an impressive performance at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Prograis admitted that whilst he believes Garcia is a better boxer, he says he is backing Benn to get the job done as he is more of a ‘raw fighter’ than Garcia.
“I think it’s a great fight, and my pick? I pick Conor Benn. I think that Ryan Garcia is a better boxer, but if they get to a fight, which it might happen, I will pick Conor. Conor is not that skilled, but he’s a raw fighter. He wants to get in there and he wants to fight so if they get to that, if they get to the fight, I got Conor.”
Benn is currently the mandatory challenger to Garcia’s WBC welterweight title and it has recently been revealed by ‘King Ryan’ that the duo are expected to do battle this September, with an official announcement likely to be made very soon.
