Fresh off his recent defeat, Regis Prograis has assessed how good he thinks Conor Benn really is.

Prograis is a former two-time world champion but has never fought as high as 150lbs, which is where he found himself in the ring with Benn on fight night.

Benn himself insists he is a natural welterweight, but is still working his way back down, having fought up at 160lbs when he took on Chris Eubank Jr twice in 2025.

The first time he lost a decision after 12 rounds, but in the rematch, he reversed that with a comfortable win of his own, though many suspect Eubank was weight drained given his lacklustre performance.

Benn and Prograis fought in early April, and though Benn landed some solid shots that seemed to hurt Prograis early on, he failed to get his man out of there and instead took another clear points win.

Speaking to The Ring Magazine, Prograis spoke honestly about Benn’s future whilst also rating his ability.

“I think Conor Benn can become a world champion because anything can happen in boxing. Someone can vacate the belts and get elevated, just anything can happen, but as for him as a fighter, he has some things to work on.

“He’s like a six out of 10. He’s not that good. He’s just not polished enough. He’s strong, not gonna lie. His power is like an 8.5. So he does have a lot of power but he’s not really polished right now.

He then laid out where he thinks Benn needs to improve.

“He has to work on his speed and set up shots. A lot of his punches I saw coming, so I was able to brace for them. But he definitely has a few things to work on. Right now, he’s just a fighter, a rugged fighter.”

Benn has been vocal in his pursuit of a world title and has called out several fights, with WBC champion Ryan Garcia seemingly the frontrunner to give him a shot in the United States later in the year following his victory over Mario Barrios in February.
