Two-weight British champion Richard Riakporhe has decided who he thinks will come out with the win when Daniel Dubois takes on Fabio Wardley for a second time this weekend.
The first fight back in May saw Wardley start well and knock former IBF ruler ‘DDD’ down twice early on. But from there, Dubois steadied himself and used his experience to get a foothold in the fight.
He slowly broke Wardley down until he was left with a bloody face and a broken nose. The referee stopped the contest in the 11th round, and Dubois snatched the WBO title.
Speaking to The Sun, Riakporhe sided with Wardley to make the necessary adjustments to get the win.
I’m leaning to Fabio, I’m leaning to him because I think he can adjust. Not in the fight the way Dubois does; I think he needs to go away and really reflect on it. All he needs to do is listen to the coach Ben Davison; they have a good game plan to beat this guy.
“I saw what they did when he landed the first right hand; [Wardley] pulled his hand down, that Wilder-type movement, bam, he put him down. If he comes with a good strategy like this and he trains well, I think he can do it. Not by a big margin, maybe 60%.”
The man himself has admitted that he was too “single-minded” in the first fight and has vowed to get things right the second time around.
