Feuding super-lightweights will clash in the aptly named Bad Blood show as Robbie Davies Jr vs Lewis Ritson is announced
Bad Blood is the show’s moniker and it’s an appropriate one for the headline duo, who have been engaged in a heated war of words in recent times. Now the verbal will turn physical as Robbie Davies Jr vs Lewis Ritson has been confirmed for October 19. The location, Newcastle Utilita Arena, offers relative home advantage to Forest Hall’s Ritson in a clash between former quality amateurs, but Davies Jr is more accustomed to the 140lbs division.
Ritson won then secured a Lonsdale Belt down at lightweight with a series of explosive and mostly rapid victories, before a clear defeat to Francisco Patera for the vacant European crown compelled Lewis to make a belated move up in weight.
Davies Jr avenged his only pro defeat before winning British and European super-lightweight belts.
An already intriguing contest was additional spice when the pair had a potty-mouthed altercation in between their tune-up triumphs on the same Liverpool show earlier this month. If the in-ring action matches or exceeds the existing needle, fans should be in for a treat.
