Simon Jordan has changed his mind about Anthony Joshua‘s victory over Kristian Prenga following backlash against his original suspicions.
‘AJ’ was back in action for the first time since his straightforward win over Jake Paul last December as he looks towards an epic clash with Tyson Fury later in the year.
Despite his opponent being nowhere near world level and a heavyweight of just 21 fights, Joshua found himself on the canvas twice inside the first round in what was a huge shock to the boxing world.
After a minute with his team between rounds, Joshua came out for the second looking much more composed and soon landed heavy shots on Prenga before knocking him through the ropes to end the fight.
Jordan, who covers boxing on his TalkSPORT radio show, took to X soon after to say there was ‘something not quite right’ about how the fight played out.
The businessman turned commentator has now changed his initial view.
“I saw the second round, and Prenga come out and do the polar opposite of what he had done in the first round and got all the success and it didn’t make sense to me and he didn’t seem to be throwing anything. I thought I didn’t like the look of this, I didn’t like the smell of this.
“But the more I look at the fight back and the more I listen to the corner work that was done with Prenga, and the more I talk to trainers about what Prenga should have done, what grade of fighter he is, what they expected in terms of the second round, have a look at him before you jump on him.
“It kind of takes me into the pathway that maybe I was a bit previous that there was something amiss in this fight.”
Joshua will now be looking ahead and hoping to secure the legacy-defining fight with Fury in November following The Gypsy King’s recent KO victory over Mariusz Wach.
