Shakur Stevenson has been speaking about the abilities of Conor Benn.
Benn is on the charge for a world title, having not yet competed for one in his 26-fight career. His biggest wins to date have been in his last two outings, the first of which was a rematch with Chris Eubank Jr that saw him get revenge after having lost their initial fight in early 2025.
The second saw him beat an ageing Regis Prograis over 10 rounds at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in April. That fight was at a catchweight as Benn continues to come back down to his natural welterweight division.
It is there that champions like Ryan Garcia await, and there that Benn now wants to impose himself. Speaking to Daily Mail Boxing, Stevenson was asked how he rated Benn in the ring.
“I don’t think he’s that good. Like, he’s OK. What I will say from a positive standpoint, he’s getting better.”
He was then asked if he thought he could get to world level.
“Yeah probably when he like 40. If he sticks with it when he gets to 40 he may be able to get to our level.”
He was then asked whether it is still a fight he is interested in.
“Yeah I would love a Conor Benn fight, it’s a great fight to have, but we’ll see.”
Stevenson has won world championships in four weight classes, from featherweight to junior welterweight. Last time out in January, he outpointed Teofimo Lopez to win the WBO belt, and as of yet does not have his next bout lined up.
