Frank Warren Says Tyson Fury Fight To Be Announced This Week

Promoter Frank Warren has issued an update on Tyson Fury’s next bout as he prepares to face Anthony Joshua later this year.

The former unified world heavyweight champion brought an end to his latest retirement back in April when he locked horns with Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov.

Fury defeated Makhmudov via unanimous decision at the conclusion of their non-title clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, his first outing since he was defeated by Oleksandr Usyk for the second time in December 2024.

After it was revealed that Fury and long-term rival Anthony Joshua will finally face each other in November, ‘The Gypsy King’ has been in the process of finalising one final warm-up bout before he clashes with ‘AJ’ in what many are considering to be the biggest fight in British boxing history.

Speaking to Sky Sports Boxing, Frank Warren revealed that an announcement on Fury’s next opponent is set to be made very soon, as he claims the Brit must come through the bout unscathed if his showdown with Joshua is to go ahead as planned.

“We’ll hopefully be in a position to announce it next week, that’s what were looking to do … So keep watching this space, and it’ll be a good opponent – it’ll be good for him. He can’t afford to slip up, because obviously AJ’s got his fight in a few weeks’ time … Joshua’s got to come through that, Tyson has to come through his, and then the big one will be in November.”

Joshua is just several weeks from his next outing, his first since he produced a thunderous 6th round knockout win over Jake Paul in Miami last December.

The two-time unified world heavyweight champion will face Albania’s Kristian Prenga at an unconfirmed venue in Riyadh on Saturday July 25.
