Tyson Fury is in camp and training for his long-awaited but as yet unannounced showdown with Anthony Joshua, according to Frank Warren.
This all-British heavyweight clash between two of the UK’s most recognisable sportsmen and two former two-time heavyweight champions of the world was supposed to have been announced after they both fought in July.
Despite that, speaking to Sky Sports Boxing recently, Warren revealed Fury is now in camp and focused on the legacy-defining contest.
“I genuinely think it will happen. I think his Excellency, who is the promoter of the event, I think he will announce that fairly soon. I know there has been some issues with contracts with Matchroom and ‘AJ’, I believe they will iron all those out. In the meantime, Tyson has flown off to the States; he’s in Miami, and he’s preparing for the fight.”
When pushed for details on a location, Warren suggested both Fury and Joshua were aligned.
“I think they both want the fight at Wembley, but it’s out of their hands now.”
Fans would much rather the contest was hosted in the UK to make it a more favourable start time, but the main concern will be making sure it happens at all.
After so many years of delays, and extra time spent negotiating since both men last fought, the clock is ticking on their careers.
