World Champion Vows To Stop Conor Benn Within 7 Rounds

A highly-rated world champion has vowed to stop Conor Benn in impressive fashion should they go on to face each other this year.

Benn made his return to the ring earlier this month when he defeated two-time world champion Regis Prograis by unanimous decision in what was an underwhelming bout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

‘The Destroyer’ has received intense criticism for his performance against Prograis in what was his first ring appearance since he got revenge over domestic rival Chris Eubank Jr in their second meeting last November.

The two fights against Eubank were contested at middleweight, while the clash with Prograis was a 150lb catchweight bout, as Benn begins his return back to the welterweight division.

As rumours begin to circulate about what could be next for Benn, the 29-year-old from London has once again been linked with a showdown against WBC world welterweight champion Ryan Garcia.

Speaking on social media recently, Garcia vowed to stop Benn inside seven rounds should their paths cross before the end of this year.

“Mark my words his corner or the ref stops my fight with Connor in the 6-7 round”

Benn remains the mandatory challenger to Garcia and is expected to secure an opportunity to face the American star next, with August believed to be the month the two men will be.

Garcia was last in action back in February when he produced a career-best display against Mario Barrios to capture the WBC welterweight title at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
