Gervonta Davis floored Ryan Garcia in round two and stopped Garcia in round seven at a rocking T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Saturday night.

In round one, respect was evident. Garcia threw several jabs. Davis, a southpaw, moved to his left. He watched more than punched. Garcia connected with a sweeping left.

Garcia opened up in round two. Davis held on.

After Garcia missed with a left hook, an ample counter put him down. He got up quickly. He looked OK. Both fighters landed headshots.

Garcia was aggressive in round three—no ill effects from the knockdown. Davis (29-0,27 KOs) moved side-to-side. Garcia applied the pressure. Davis jabbed. Garcia fired a left hook to the body. Davis scored with another right jab. In round four, Garcia went to the body. Davis,28, fired back. Garcia (23-1, 19 KOs) landed a right. Davis worked up and down. He landed a left on the head. Garcia’s nose was bleeding.

Davis continued to use lateral movement for at least most of the round. He was fighting a cagey fight. Garcia,24, pressed him but wasn’t punching that much. Davis kept working the belly. In round six, Garcia tried to up the ante. He landed two solid right hands. Davis went downstairs some more. Both fighters missed hard shots. Garcia connected with a left. Davis scored with his left.

Garcia landed another right in round seven. Davis came back with a straight left. Garcia flashed hand speed. Davis came under Garcia and dug a left to the ribs. Garcia backed up and went down on one knee. Grimacing, he tried to get up but couldn’t beat the count.

The time was 1:44 seconds into round seven.

“I’m keep my head down and stay humble, “said Davis. “I’m gonna continue to work.”

“Tank is a great fighter,” Garcia said. “He caught me with a good shot.”

He did. Davis fought a calm fight - presenting Garcia with things he’s never seen before. He nullified Garcia’s left hook. A masterclass of boxing, patience, and power.
