Jack Catterall hopes to land his next world title fight with Teofimo Lopez on one of the biggest cards boxing has ever seen.
Catterall has been the WBA Regular title holder since May 2026 when he beat Shakhram Giyasov. He has also beaten the likes of Ekow Essuman, Harlem Eubank and Regis Prograis.
The best night of his career was beating Josh Taylor in May 2024 after controversially losing their first fight for the undisputed light welterweight titles on points back in February 2022.
It has now been confirmed that he has been ordered to take on full WBA champion Teofimo Lopez, and posting on social media, Catterall had a message of his own for the American.
“Hey mate @TeofimoLopez you fancy scrapping on the fury aj card ? If not don’t worry I’ll come to America and get my belt. Either way I’ll see you soon champ 🤝”
Right now December 11 seems the likely date for the Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury showdown, which in theory is enough time for both men to have full camps for going into this world title fight.
Lopez last fought in August when he became a three-weight world champion after defeating Rolando Romero and taking his WBA ‘Super’ welterweight world title from him in Las Vegas.
He declined to call out Caterall after the final bell, instead saying he’d rather challenge Ryan Garcia for his WBC start, or wait for WBO champion Devin Haney, but he has now been given 30 days to negotiate a deal with Catterall.
