Conor Benn Accused Of Going Quiet After Offer From World Champion

Conor Benn has been accused of avoiding a world champion he prepares to make his return to the welterweight title picture.

Benn was last in action on April 11 when he beat two-time world super-lightweight champion Regis Prograis at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England

‘The Destroyer’ had made the jump up to middleweight for his back-to-back clashes with Chris Eubank Jr in April and November of last year, and faced Prograis at a catchweight of 150lbs in preparation of dropping back down to welterweight.

Benn is currently the mandatory challenger to WBC world champion Ryan Garcia, and September 12 in Las Vegas is understood to be the targeted date for that fight to take place.

Prior to the developments with Garcia, Benn had been linked with a potential clash with WBA welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, who is yet to make a return to action since he got the better of Garcia last May.

However, ‘Rolly’ told Seconds Out in partnership with Tooniebet that the Brit went quiet after he expressed an interest in facing him next.

“Wait. Did I call them out or did they call me out? They called me out and then I said “Okay, let’s do it” and then what happened?”

‘Rolly’ had been on the verge of finalizing a deal to face WBO world welterweight champion Devin Haney next, but a unification clash between the American duo did not come to fruition after ‘The Dream’ is said to have turned down an offer from Romero’s team.
