David Haye Weighs In On Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury Mega Fight

David Haye has had his say on the potential super fight between British heavyweight rivals Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

Both of these former long-time champions are at a similar stage in their careers. Somewhat past their best, both derailed by losses to Oleksandr Usyk and neither of them in possession of a world title while approaching the end of their careers and their 40th birthdays.

The fight has long been mooted, but now that neither man has much to lose, it offers them both a great way to secure their legacies and bow out with what would be one of the biggest-ever fights in the UK.

Speaking to Sky Sports, former two-weight champion Haye admitted he is keen to see it.

“That’s the biggest fight they could both possibly have. They should be pushing it, they should be pressing it, they have to be. They both need each other, for their own legacies, different reasons.

“They both need to say Anthony Joshua was in the same era as Tyson Fury, vice versa, and they battled it out to figure out who won. Maybe they will earn more money now than they would have done when it was first talked about.”

Haye also saw Fury’s recent 12-round comeback win against Arslanbek Makmuhdov after a year-long lay-off as great preparation for ‘AJ.’

“He’s selected an opponent the same dimensions as Anthony Joshua, someone big and strong and isn’t too slick in terms of head movement, who has vertical arm defence similar to ‘AJ’.

“He believes what he still has left and what he believes he has is more than enough to beat Anthony Joshua. And that’s a massive fight that the fans want to see.”

Joshua has not fought since he knocked out Jake Paul in December last year, but has been in camp for several weeks and working alongside two-time undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.

The plan is for him to take a warm-up fight before Fury against a top 20 heavyweight, although nothing has yet been confirmed.
