David Price has given his view on Tyson Fury‘s latest comeback.
Fury spent all of 2025 in retirement, mulling over the first two defeats of his career. Both came at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk at either end of 2024 and left him without any belts as the Ukrainian became the first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.
His first fight back was in early April against Arslanbek Makmudov. He boxed well and kept the big Russian at bay to secure a solid 12-round points win before having a ringside encounter with Anthony Joshua.
Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, Price was asked how Fury’s latest comeback stacks up.
“He’s still got something left, obviously. It was his first fight back in I don’t know how long so he’d had a lot of time out of the ring. He’s still got something left in the tank. Him and Joshua is the fight isn’t it, obviously.
“They’re both in the same boat, as in they’re both past their best but it doesn’t mean they’re not good any more, they’re still top, top operators, but they’re not quite as good as they were a few years ago but it doesn’t mean they still shouldn’t fight.
“If the hunger’s there, and the desire’s there, and the people want to watch it, and they do, do the fight. It’s got to be him and Joshua, hell just keeping fighting till he can’t fight. What else is there to do?”
Eddie Hearn has confirmed that the plan is for Joshua to have one warm-up fight. He has been out of action since November, when he knocked out Jake Paul, before he was involved in a tragic car accident in which he lost two friends. Once he has shaken off some rust, he can then go into this showdown with Fury later in the year.
