Eddie Hearn has been speaking about helping Katie Taylor realise her dream of fighting at Croke Park in Dublin.
Hearn has promoted Taylor since her professional debut and taken her to multiple world titles and plenty of the biggest female fights the sport has ever known.
Now ten years into her career, the Olympic Gold medallist is recognised by many as the greatest female boxer of all time. She has held the unified and lineal world super lightweight championship since 2023, when she beat Chantelle Cameron, having lost their first fight, and has since twice beaten Amanda Serrano.
Speaking to The Stomping Ground, Hearn revealed where things stand on a retirement fight at Croke Park in Dublin.
“Frank was there two days ago in Dublin, going through everything operationally. We’re in a good place. It’s not done yet. But I’d be very disappointed at this stage if we didn’t get it over the line. It’s the dream.
“When I sat and had lunch with Katie Taylor three or four months ago, I thought she was ready to retire. She came back and said I need to fight at Croke Park. If I don’t fight at Croke Park I’ll never fight again. But I want one more. And I want you to make this happen.
“The responsibility that she has put on my shoulder is not one I take lightly. And we’re doing everything we can to get it over the line, and I’m very hopeful that will happen.”
As for an opponent, he would not be drawn.
“To be honest, there are many, many options. But it will be a real fight; this won’t be an exhibition.”
One potential opponent could be WBC lightweight ruler Caroline Dubois, who has thrown her hat in the ring.
