After facing a number of big hitters during his professional career, Mike Tyson once revealed the man who punched him harder than anyone else.
‘Iron Mike’ cemented himself as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time during his decorated career, winning the world heavyweight championship on two occasions along the way.
Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion of all time back in 1986 when he sensationally knocked out Trevor Berbick in the second round of their Las Vegas showdown, capturing the WBC world title in the process.
He later added the WBA and IBF titles to his collection with legacy-defining wins over James Smith and Tony Tucker, achieving undisputed status just one month after he turned 21-years-old.
Speaking on The Big Podcast with Shaq, Tyson recalled his encounters with Donovan ‘Razor’ Ruddock who he claims was the hardest puncher he faced during his entire career.
“Razor Ruddock.”
“There’s a lot of hard punchers out there, this guy that’s taking punches, that’s psychological, everything’s psychological. Holyfield and all of those guys are hard punchers, but the purpose is they can’t land the punch, I know you look at me, you see me, but I don’t get hit much when I was at my prime, that was the whole objective, you know.”
Tyson got the better of Ruddock on two occasions within a three month period back in 1991, stopping his rival in the seventh round of their first clash before he went on to defeat him via unanimous decision in their rematch.
