Prince Naseem Hamed has been asked for his views on rising British light-heavyweight star Ben Whittaker.

Whittaker is a former Olympic silver medallist who turned over to the professional game in 2022. He has had 12 fights since then, many of them straightforward wins, though he did have one controversial draw against Liam Cameron in which he got injured and had to withdraw.

The rematch came months later in early 2025, and Whittaker won by KO. Since then, he has also beaten Benjamin Gavazi and Braian Nahuel Suarez, both by first-round knockout.

The Wolverhampton man is a divisive figure because of how much he showboats in the ring, even whenever it is against fighters who fans consider to be lesser opposition. He has not yet fought for a world title, and many onlookers have said he should show more respect to his opponents.

Speaking to talkSPORTBoxing, one of boxing’s most famous showmen, ‘Prince Naz,’ was asked for his view.

“I ain’t got no take on it whatsoever. You know why? First of all, we are far, far apart in ability and skill and the world knows that.

“That’s the first thing, the second thing is before I came here I said to one of my best mates here, Spencer Oliver, I’m not talking about him. He doesn’t deserve me to talk about him.

“I’ve said what I have to say about him before. I’m not talking about him. He doesn’t deserve my voice about him.”

Whittaker has admitted he will not stop showboating and that it is all part of his style. Next up, he is expected to fight out in the US before a return to the UK later in the summer.
