Errol Spence Jr Says Former Champion Is ‘Jealous’ Of Him As He Announces Comeback Fight

After several years of inactivity, Errol Spence Jr‘s long-awaited return to the ring has been made official.

The 36-year-old American was last in action back in July of 2023 when he suffered the first defeat of his career to former pound-for-pound star Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Spence was in line to make his comeback against WBC world light-middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora earlier this year but a bout between the duo did not come to fruition after a period of failed negotiations.

As he prepares to make his debut in the super-welterweight division, ‘The Truth’ has finally been pencilled in to make his return to boxing and will face former WBO light-middleweight champion Tim Tszyu in Australia next month.

While his main focus is on Tszyu, there is another man that has caught Spence’s attention, as speaking to Fight Hype, Spence brandished rival Jermell Charlo as ‘jealous’ after the duo exchanged words on a number of occasions over the last few months.

“Dude been kind of jealous of me because I guess he looked at me as like PBC, Golden Boy or something and all this and that. So I mean, he’s been jealous of me but the proof is in the pudding.

“It’s a reason why he hasn’t had a fight yet. And it’s a reason why I can say, “Hey, I want to fight.” And then I have a fight tomorrow. You know what I’m saying?

“I mean, people tired of giving him fights and then you getting in the red because he fighting and he ain’t got any fans. Like where can Jermell fight at and sell out? Can’t even fight in Houston and sell out so where’s he fighting at?”

Charlo himself has been the victim of inactivity and has not fought since he was beaten by Mexican great Canelo Alvarez in his attempt at becoming the undisputed super-middleweight champion back in September of 2023.
