Frank Warren Casts Doubt Over Tyson Fury’s Rumoured ‘Warm Up’ Fight: “I Never Said That”

Frank Warren has insisted Tyson Fury may not be making the return that fans were led to expect.

Fury was last out in April when he took on the towering Russian Arslanbek Makmudov. It was his first fight since spending the whole of 2025 in retirement following two back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury outpointed Makmudov over 12 rounds and then immediately called for the long-awaited showdown with fellow Brit and former unified ruler Anthony Joshua.

Although that fight is likely to happen towards the back end of this year, there has been talk of Fury taking another tune-up fight in the interim, given how long he has been out of the ring and how long he must wait for Joshua to get his warm-up fight with Kristian Prenga this July out of the way.

Now, speaking to The Stomping Ground, Warren was asked if Fury would be back out on August 1 as per the rumours, but flatly denied it.

“I haven’t said that. You’ve not heard that from my mouth at all. At this stage in time, there’s nothing on that date. We’ve got our card, we’ve got a very good card, and that’s where we are at the moment. We’ve not done any deal or anything for him to fight on the first of August.”

Should Joshua come through his return following the tragic loss of two friends in a car accident in December, all roads will lead to the epic battle with Fury that many hope will be in the UK, but could well take place Stateside.
