Frank Bruno Picks A Winner In George Foreman vs Lennox Lewis Prime vs Prime Fight

Frank Bruno has shared the ring with Lennox Lewis and has now predicted how he would have got on with heavyweight legend George Foreman.

Lewis and Bruno fought in what was billed as The Battle of Britain on 1 October 1993, with Bruno in his third world title bout following losses to Tim Witherspoon and Mike Tyson.

Lewis came out on top with a seventh-round knockout to retain his WBC title and went on to add the WBA, IBF and WBO straps to become the undisputed champion when he beat Evander Holyfield in 1999.

He later suffered an upset loss to Hasim Rahman but avenged it in his next contest, then beat Tyson and Vitali Klitschko before retiring in 2003 as unified ruler.

He is generally regarded as one of the best ever heavyweights, with Foreman also in that conversation for what he achieved between 1967 and 1997.

‘Big George’ was a two-time world champion and an Olympic gold medalist who beat the likes of Ron Lyle, Ken Norton, Joe Frazier and Dwight Muhammad Qawi, though he lost his most famous bout with Muhammad Ali in the historic Rumble in the Jungle in 1974 when he was knocked out in the eighth round.

Speaking to Playbook Boxing, Bruno was asked who would come out on top were the two to meet, and the much-loved British legend didn’t hesitate to call it.

“George Foreman.”

Foreman retired with a record of 76 wins from 81 fights, with 68 of those coming by way of knockout, so he would indeed have posed Lewis plenty of problems.
