Former Floyd Mayweather Opponent Wants Bare Knuckle Rematch

A former rival of Floyd Mayweather is targeting a rematch with the legendary American under bare knuckle boxing rules.

‘Money’ Mayweather has been inactive since he faced John Gotti III in a non-scored exhibition contest at the Mexico City Arena back in August of 2024.

At the peak of his powers, the 49-year-old from Michigan was widely regarded as being the best fighter on the planet pound-for-pound which culminated in him winning world titles in five weight classes.

As he prepares to face Manny Pacquiao in a rematch later this year, Mayweather has been the subject of a call-out from former rival Victor Ortiz who revealed in an interview with Seconds Out that he would be open to facing ‘Money’ under bare knuckle rules.

“Floyd doesn’t hit hard and I know I’ll beat him.”

Ortiz was then asked if he believes Mayweather would be interested in stepping into the world of bare knuckle boxing.

“No, no, no. Floyd’s smart. Floyd stays away from danger. I mean, hey, it’s pros and cons I guess, you know, he’s done good for himself. Keeping himself out of harm, you know.”

Mayweather defeated Ortiz under controversial circumstances back in September of 2011 when he knocked his countryman out with an unexpected two-punch combination to capture the WBC world welterweight title.

Ortiz signed a deal to feature for BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing last month and is expected to make his debut within the coming months.
