Tony Bellew has broken down the much-anticipated world heavyweight showdown between Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois.
This all-British clash is one of the biggest fight nights of the year so far. ‘DDD’ is looking to get back to winning ways and regain a world title, having lost by KO last time out to Oleksandr Usyk when defending the same IBF belt.
Wardley meanwhile, has impressed on his way from white-collar boxer to heavyweight champion via knockout victories over Justis Huni and Joseph Parker in his last two, the second of which saw him elevated to champion after Usyk vacated rather than face him.
Speaking to Fight Your Corner, Bellew sees the fight going one of two ways.
“I think it’s a really good fight. I think once it goes past three or four rounds it probably only goes one way. But those first three or four rounds, Fab could be in trouble. Them first three or four rounds, he has to put a dent in Daniel Dubois within the first couple of minutes of the fight.
“Daniel Dubois is a bully when it comes to boxing and bullies don’t tend to do well when it starts going against them. As an on top fighter, he is a problem. Daniel Dubois is a proper problem, so you’ve got to put a dent in him within the first couple of minutes and cap away at his confidence, you’ve got to chip away at him, ’cause if you let them get any confidence you’re in a world of trouble.”
Wardley has shown before that he has what it takes to come from behind and carries his power late into the fight, which could be a huge factor in deciding the outcome of this one.
