Conor Benn looks to have finally got the world title shot that he has long been chasing.
‘The Destroyer’ is now 29 years old and has had 26 fights and won 25 of them, 14 by way of knockout. His only loss came on the cards after 12 rounds against Chris Eubank Jr, his long-time generational rival, back in April 2025, when they finally fought after more than two years of build-up.
The rematch six months later saw Benn impose himself much more and take a unanimous decision, and he soon began calling out world champions in the welterweight division.
Earlier this year, he took on former champion Regis Prograis at a catchweight and secured a 10-round win, which led him to once again call out the likes of Rolly Romero and Ryan Garcia.
Speaking to Ring Magazine, Benn’s manager Keith Connolly revealed that his man has now committed to the fight with Garcia.
“We have signed on our side. I think Ryan has accepted it too. I think they’re sorting out some issues with the networks. I don’t really want to talk about that, because that’s a different area.
“I have my guy signed for the fight and ready to go and I think we shall hear some positive news in the next couple of weeks.”
Garcia is 27 and has held the WBC title since he beat Mario Barrios on points back in February, though is arguably best known for beating Devin Haney before that fight was later ruled a non-contest once Garcia tested positive for banned substances.
The fight with Benn does not have a location, and Garcia’s manager Oscar De La Hoya has claimed he has not been involved in any talks about making it happen.
