Carl Frampton has weighed in with his views on the upcoming super fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
This contest has been the one the fans want to see the most for many years. Both Brits are former world champions, with Joshua having unified the belts as far back as 2017, though he eventually surrendered them to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021.
Back in 2024, he challenged Daniel Dubois for the IBF title but was knocked out, and in his only fight since he stopped Jake Paul last December.
Fury also lost his belt to Usyk in 2024 and failed to win it back in a rematch before taking all of 2025 off, and only returned in April when he beat Arslanbek Makmuhdov.
Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, Frampton was unable to predict a winner for when the two meet.
“My favourite, if you’d have asked me five years ago, I’d have strongly favoured Fury, but now I’m not sure. I’m really sitting on the fence. I’m split down the middle.
“I want to see what ‘AJ’ looks like in this fight, this warm-up fight, as they call it and maybe I’ll have a bit more of a clear idea in my head after that.
“I think Fury got a bit of stick after the Makhmudov fight, which I think was unfair. I think he looked ok against a decent fighter in Makhmuhdov, so I’m not sure what people were expecting, but I think the performance from big Tyson was OK.”
The fight will take place later in the year, following Joshua having a comeback fight against Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on 25 July.
