Johnny Nelson has reacted to recent comments by former stablemate Prince Naseem Hamed.
Nelson is a former cruiserweight champion, while ‘Prince Naz’ ruled the featherweight division at a time when both men trained at the legendary Wincobank Gym in Sheffield under the late Brendon Ingle.
Speaking recently, Hamed claimed that Ingle was obsessed with money and that Nelson was a “snake” and “an over-achiever in boxing.”
Nelson has now responded in his own interview on talkSPORT, as posted on X.
“When I watched the show, I smiled to myself and I thought this kid’s delusion. It’s like having a dog that keeps biting you, so you teach the dog to stop biting you.
“If you don’t stop the dog from biting you, it’s going to run wild and start biting anybody and everybody. Nas needs to be checked; he needs to be pulled into order.
“He needs to know when you say wrong, when you come out with this BS, I’m going to check out. Unfortunately, people don’t do that.
“The problem with Naz is that too many people are compliant with letting this kid run his mouth off, talk garbage and not question what he’s saying. It’s Naz, he’s TV gold, he did amazing things, I’m a massive fan of Naz’s, but Naz is a little sh*t.”
When asked if they might reconcile, Nelson suggested that Hamed is not “the kind of guy I want as a friend, no.”
